Health Center FAQ

Nurse Practitioner consultation is always free. Largely funded by the Student Health Fee, the Health Center provides no to low-cost services. No insurance required. Depending on condition and insurance status, the Nurse Practitioner may refer a student to off-campus services. 

On-campus, in-person and virtual therapy is available through Mentis. Virtual support is available through TimelyCare. Students can download the TimelyCare app and register with student email to access scheduled counseling (therapy), 24/7 on-demand Talk Line, Peer Community Board, and Self-care resources. TimelyCare services are available even on breaks and during off-hours. All mental health services are FREE and confidential.

YES! Medical records and medical conditions are kept in complete confidence and will not be shared with anyone without a written consent from the student, except when it is required by law. A Notice of Privacy Practices can be found on the NVC Health Services webpage and posted in the Health Center lobby.

YES! Emergency contraception is available at no cost and most effective if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. The Nurse Practitioner will review options for free birth control.

Yes, the Nurse Practitioner may write prescriptions to be picked up at a local pharmacy. The Health Center dispenses select prescriptions as well as over the counter medications/supplies for free, on-site.
